YS1 tranny on an 92 LS motor...
Hey all im kinda new here to honda-tech but a regular on a few other honda forums.. My question is..... Is it or has anyone already tried a YS1 (GSR tranny i believe) on an LS integra motor.. If so was there any mods that had to be done ?
alright keww.. well i have this swap on my civic ..gsr tranny and a 92 ls motor but when i looked under the car it seems its missing the transmission cover cuz when i looked i saw the clutch well a small portion of the bottom of it.. THis is not normal is it?

I had a YS1 GSR trans on my LS and hated it, then i had a JDM XSI trans and hated that even worse. Put an LS trans on and i'm in love. Sometimes changing gears isnt the greatest thing esp for daily driven cars. If your car is a full fledge drag car then yeah a shorter gear transmission would prob be best, but I know I got tired of my car begging for 6th gear when i was doing 85 on the highway at 5800rpm
I know I asked the question wrong... The question was that there is a gap at the bottom of the trannny where i can see the pressure plate... What im asking is that normal or is it suppose to be like that... It seems like its mission the tranny cover to the bottom. When i jack it up i can see into the tranny...? Just need to help...
Yea mine is a 91 LS tranny and its stamped YS1 also...so not all YS1's are GSR's. That is normal for the inspection plate to be missing. Many ppl do not put them back on. Mine is missing too...its fine, but there is a chance of getting dirt and such in there.

it's the flywheel inspection plate. i'd put one on if you can get your hands on one. but i've also owned a car without it, it it wasnt a big deal.

hey there r 3 diff, ys1 trannys. in you post you said you have a ls motor. if all you bolts r tight and in the right holes there arent any gaps between the motor and tranny. there is a cover that keeps the clutch from getting dirt and water from getting to the clutch. if there r any gaps check all bolts. if tranny isnt installed right it will cause the tranny to grind.
the only way to find out what ys1 tranny you have it to either take the tranny apart and coount the teath on the finel drive. there r other ways. but this is the best
how can i tell if an S1 tranny is a usdm LS or a JDM B16? my friends stock LS has an S1 sticker on his tranny..but the dude i called said his tranny is a b16 but unsure if its an LS cause he's never tried it.. how can i verify it? and stamps anywhere? the teeth on the input shaft?
