Yipes! I finally got nabbed. SMOG q's and 1G q's
a little background: 5G hb. I sent my CA registration in the mail and am awaiting my tags. I get pulled over for tags and get a fix it ticket for that. Then he asks to pop my hood. He really didn't know anything about FI and was trying to look for my filter in the AEM CAI spot. Anyway, he busts out a camera and starts taking pictures of my setup! AND now I have to pay a visit to the ref. shiot. Time to take off all of my stuff.
1) I've got Peak n Hold dsm 450's. I need to drop down to stock injectors, can I use 4G injectors? Or should I just remove the resistor pack. pita.
2) Hondata 3B - d16z6 - sleeved and 30 over am I even going to PASS?!
3) Do I need to remove the bnm command flo and stick a stock regulator on?
4) is it time to move on and sell the whole shebang....
are 1g's smog exempt (if i ever find one)? Whats the cut-off for smog? 74? I'm willing to spend 500 for a junked 1g and invest the 1000's into restoring it and/or shoe-horning my z6 + fi setup into it. Yes, I'll pay the money to do that.
*shrug* I'm just shocked. what to do.

1 - I don't know on that one.
2 - isn't that a stock motor for that year? I don't think that would be a problem, even the Hondata since you're OBD-1.
3 - I don't think that matters
4 - Are you nuts?
Good luck dude!

To add to mplex. You shouldnt have to pull the injectors or the resistor box--which look factory enough since they are honda oem. The hondata 3b will run your car no problem while you are n/a.
Just pull off the turbo and dp. Buy a cap for the oil feed and tie it up behind the motor--cap the return too. Put factory manifold and dp on, along with air box and you should be cool.

damn man they must be really strict out there..i live in the chicago burbs and that sounds nuts...if a piggy told me to pop my hood id tell him to **** himself..whats up out there are you not allowed to do certain mods to your cars? ive been wanting to move out there and ive heard its a bitch to bring a car in to the state and get it registered...and then have to convert to your emission laws...crazy
Dude I need to get my car smogged. It passed with flying colors last time. Then I'm pulling the engine and you already know what I'm doing.
Do you want my motor for a couple of days if it passes? I'm swapping out the block anyways.
Let me know.

I live in KY, and our cars are tested both with the sniffer machines, and then they hook a computer up to your OBD port, and test the ECU somehow. I had never heard of this till I saw a commercial for it on TV. Thing is, I have a 2000 Si, thats turbocharged, and running a P72 Hondata ECU. I'm afraid I might blow up their damn machine. Anyone run into this situation yet?

thanks for the replies folks... I'm just gonna pull the turbo shtuff out and smog w/hondata. if all else fails I'll swap in a stocker.
oh wait, I'm going to the REF! am I going to have to totally remove the oil feed fittings?

the car should pass the test at the pipe with little to no problems at all. the problem is visual inspection. to legally pass smog in CA you need to pass a visual inspection, which basically says that anything done to your engine without a CARB EO # will make it not pass, REGARDLESS if its passes the emissions test or not.
Now I am not sure how the smog ref is gonna test it, but I would think that they would do it by the law. However, here's hoping that they are logical enough to only test for emissions... Good Luck!
