something wrong with my engine?
is it normal to run at 4k rpm when i'm going 75 m/h? seems kind of high to me and has been eating my gas. I have an em1 ('00 civic SI). thanks!
It's normal.
And how did you think something could be wrong with your engine if the RPMs didn't seem right? I mean, the link between the engine and transmission is mechanical.
It's either moving or it's not.

Ok, you're the second person that's asked me to friggen elaborate on something today.
It's not really hard to understand. The engine is "attached" to the tranny via the clutch. The speed of the engine depends on the the RPMs that the tranny is spinning at. THAT speed depends on the actual mechanical gears INSIDE the tranny. It's called GEARING. Nothing you can change in the ECU or on the engine is going to change that. So unless you changed out the gears the RPMs are going to be what they are.
That's it, I'm done elaborating for the day.
