Default Bad Throttle Response...

Alright let me explain my setup (The way the car was when I bought it):
•B16A2 Swap (OBD1+Hydraulic to Cable Conv.)
•Injen Short Ram, Skunk2 IM, DC 4-1 Headers, RS-R Exhaust
•CTR Crank Pulley
•ACT Heavy Duty Clutch, 8.8 lbs flywheel
•Tokico Non-Adjustables, Skunk2 "Coilover" Adjustables

My throttle response sucks.
When I step on the gas peddle, especially if I "really give it gas" the car sorta bogs down. It doesn't increase in power well at full throttle, if I get it somewhere around 50% throttle it accelerates so much faster. It almost feels like pressure drops and kills the flow velocity completely. I have been told that the Skunk2 IM is to big when you don't have any head upgrades, and when I bought the car the butterfly valve only opened about 50% of the way. I adjusted the throttle cable to open all the way, the only thing I noticed was what I explained above.

Doesn't full throttle allow the greatest amount of gas and air at once producing the most power? If so then why wouldn't full throttle give me some power? Or is that skunk2 IM killing the velocity?

When adjusting the throttle cable are you supposed to make the butterfly valve open all the way?

Thanks

You know I have been searching all over for info on how to check the timing (Google, Hondatech Search, etc...), I read the Helms manual but I still don't fully understand how you do this... Anyone wanna give me some tips?

It's NOT the Skunk2 Intake Manifold. Buy a timing light. Also what about spark plugs/wires? I had a 95 Eclipse GSX that bogged bad when one of the spark plugs started going bad and it would misfire randomly under hard throttle/acceleration.

When last summer I put new NGK Iridium plugs in the car, and one of them I guess I "overtightened" and the engine was making this clacking noise, so I took them out and found that #1 had the little spark gap "beaten" closed. Unbelievably I was able to regap it and it seemed to run smooth after, however I have not at all liked these plugs. It seemed like the car was running better on the cheaper NGK plugs that were in it when I bought it. As for the wires there are hardly used Integra Type R wires, I will check the plugs tonight... however I checked them at the start of the season and they looked perfect as far as the burn/oil contamination. Maybe I will pick one up and replace the "odd" one and see if it makes any difference.

Does anyone know the correct gap for the B16A2? I think it was something like .44" or .5"

Really? I have been told by several people that the intake manifold is to big. My car doesn't stumble on acceleration... it just doesn't go faster when I floor it, I have to hold the throttle at like 30%-50% and the car picks up speed much faster than opening the throttle completely.

I've run the Skunk2 manifold on my stock GSR with no problems. I had the same mods you listed at the time. My brother has a Port Matched Skunk2 manifold on his Internally stock B16A with NO PROBLEMS at all. Keep in mind these are the first gen manifolds that do NOT say pro series on them.

I'll try to think about what this could be. Maybe a small leak in a vacuum hose?
