Default OT: 400hp awd...et estimate

Ive been slacking lately with the HT board as Ive been working on my Talon (street car). I had a question for you all.. what kinda ETs should be expected from a 96 (full weight) Talon AWD with around 400 hp/385-400 ftlbs of torque?
Next week Ill have everything up and running.... Thanks for any opinions.

Mid to low 11's depending on elevation.

You sure the big 16g can support that kind of hp? I would think the 20g could make it.
I dunno too much about the dsm's and which turbo is going to give them gobs of power. So, I guess I have no input for you then--sorry...

I dont think a 16g will make you that kind of power. 20g can for sure.

Well a standard big 16g with no porting or waste gate mods(to help minimize creep) start pushing some hot air around 350 hp, but with a large port job and clipping should be able to flow enough for 400 with blistering spool and huge torque down low..
I may see if I can get a little time on the Extreme dyno to tune the AFC and smooth out the af through the band.

I was under the assumption that when you clipped a compressor wheel it would let the turbo spool faster--but sacrifice how much cfm the turbo flows.

I dont think you'll hit 400 with that turbo. I will say that AWD and mid 300hp is lots of fun though. Based on my friend who had a similiar setup I would say that you will go 12's easily considering the weight of the car..

What boost are you gonna run? The crushed 1g bov's are only good for about 20 psi or so.

How are you checking your wheel horsepower? Low 12s to high 11s mebbe with a 1.6 60ft. But, I suspect you will be right about 12.5(max)with your setup. If you really were making 400whp then 11s are definately possible.

I'm sure you already have, but if not, check:
http://www.dsmtimes.org/
They have some 16g setups listed in the 11's.
Best of luck to you!

The stock turbo can get a good (really good, as in Phil Beers good) driver into the 12. You're def in the 12s, 11s would be a fun bonus! dsmtalk.com'll be able to tell you more precisely.

here is a pic of the port work done on the big 16g that I purchased.
http://www.forcedperformance.net/ima...16G_ported.jpg
As for clipping(the exhaust wheel) it helps keep power coming on all the way to redline instead of falling off after 6k(on a DSM) .. A full exhaust turbine will actually start to choke things off up top, clipped it still keeps pulling.. there may be a little more lag but I can live with that

Thanks for the replies and the links.

i think it will be hard for you to hit 400hp with a clipped turbo and an safc...your injectors will be pusing the limits too

660's will be up there in duty cycle but they'll handle it.
Ill get it dyno'd after everything is together .. and Ill let you all know how well it does
