Default electrical problem maybe key cylinder???? need help anyways

when i turn the key to the second position the lights that are suppose to come on, but it doesn't. and i was wondering if this could be a key cylinder problem or what. but i have no idea. i bypassed that with a switch so the lights would come on. but the car shuts off like theres no power going to the engine. i need help so i can keep my crx running.

TIA

theres nothing electrical about the key cylinder lock. your problem is probably the ignition switch witch is screwed to the back of the ignition lock. how did you by pass it?

The car should stay on if you hold the key

I've dealth with this 2 or 3 times but now I can't rember if its the key cylinder or the switch...unscrew the switch from the back of the cylinder and use a phillips or even your key to turn the switch...you will see what is wrong then.
