Default thinking about swap...i need help

i need help, i have a 98 civic dx coupe (d16y7) with an automatic tranny (yes i know, if you want performance go with a stick) but i would like to build up an auto as much as i could.
anyways, my stock motor might be messed up, i think i threw a rod, and don't know how bad.
i am thinking about a b18b1 (integ ls 1.8L 140hp) or i was thinking about keeping my d16y7 and doing the internal work to strengthen the motor and one day add a jackson racing s/c on it. but besides the fact.
i need help on what to do. i don't want to spend a lot of money and i want to be able to pass emissions. if i go internal what all parts do i need, just rods and pistons? or everything? i am kinda new to this so i would appreciate your help.
thanks

Im gunna have to disagree with you guys about swapping to a B series. You can build the D series engines up and be fairly quick with them. For what you spend on a swap, you can be faster with a turbo sohc. If you think you threw a rod...pull your engine apart and go ahead and build it for the turbo (or supercharger), then when you get the money, keep the turbo sohc. Sohcs are cheaper to work on, so if your on a budget, theres another plus!

Isn't there a lot of work you have to do to prep the engine for boost before you can bolt on a turbo charger? Like a beefier head, valves....etc??? Sorry for the newbie question.

that was my other option, build up the internals with a rebuild crank, new rods, new pistons, , new cam and new valves. and then later on get a jackson racing s/c.
but for that much i can swap and begin with mor power and build that engine even faster. see, this is where i am in a bind, i can hook up a y7 and run "stealthy" or just swap in a b18b1 kick some ***!
i am leaning toward the swap, i start off with more power and can build it up even more later.
