Difference b/t JDM GS-R motor vs. JDM TYpe R motor
I am planning to purchase a Type R motor, but I don't want to get scammed. I have been doing my research, but unable to find anything related. How do I tell the difference between a JDM GS-R motor and a JDM Type R motor (besides the valve cover)? I know that the engine code should be B18C (top) and either starting with a 1 or a 2 (bottom). Thanks for the help
the easiest way to spot a visual difference (so long as it hasn't been changed) is the intake manifold on the GSR. search it up and you can see how different it is compared to an ITR.
also, ITR heads should have a little bit of green paint just behind the distributor area (if it hasn't faded off)...
search for pics dood. there's tons on HT
*edit - i'm bored at work so here are pics for you since i used to have a JDM GSR
GSR - note the design of the intake manifold

ITR
