Default Sunroof stuck open on my '91 Civic Si

Powers back all the way, powers forward abour 1/2 way, then get's "stuck". Go back and then forth again and then it sticks 3/4 of the way. Go back and forth again and now it get's stuck as it's pushing "up" to seal to the roof. Just enough for water to leak in and leave a sweet rank mold smell when you open the door. The sun shade was retracted and when I slide it forward, the bottom was wet. Water is leaking in and sitting on top of the headliner.

Question is, is there a manual "crank" of some kind in the car so i can manually close the sun roof? My '90 Corolla SR5 had a 8mm screw in a plug on the headliner that you could stick a socket on a drill and close it. Anything like that in the civic?

idk about a hatch, but my crx has a manual crank located in the headliner....it uses an allen key, i forget what size right off the top of my head...i cant see why a hatch wouldnt have the same thing, most likely located in the same place..mines between the dome light and the rear of the sunroof......also, the switch is notorious for going bad from what i understand, so you may look into testing the switch for a short or intermittent short that would interrupt the current to the motor...just my .02
also search the archived posts on this forum, im sure you'll find something out....good luck man!!

i had the same problem with 89 crx si. but i just put some kind of lubrication on the track and it opened/closed like it was a power windows. i used a product called 4gr mr oil, but im sure you can use a different kind. dont use something like wd40 cause it will dry back out.

as to removing the actual sun/moonroof. theres a 10mm on the track it sits on and an 8mm to remove the cap off the roof track, so you can slide it right out.

Yeah I don't so much want to take the sunroof out, just get it closed lol. Do I have to drop the headliner or is there some kind of hole/plug I can remove? It's not in the domelight is it? I would just go out and look but I am at work right now.

The hatch should have a plug in the headliner that you unscrew to get at the manual crank. My 90 Si did.
