It barley started at one time, but doesn't want to now. The plugs get fouled out with gas. It all started when my son took his car through a flooded road, it was up to the bottom of the doors. He took it to a local shop and they couldn't get it, I think they messed it up worse.

This is what I have done.
Set the motor to TDC, I pulled the #1 plug, braught the piston to the top on the compression stroke. Pulled the cap and the rotor was at #1, with the firing order set at 1-3-4-2. The "up" mark on the cam was at TDC also. Parralell with the head. I have fire at the plugs, I have fuel. It really acts like the timing is off but this shows it is on. It did start once and acted like it was running on two cyclinders. Now it won't start. There is plenty of spark and fuel. One thing that is weird, the transmission fly wheel timing mark is off about three teeth before TDC, when I put it on that mark, it shows the cam gear off three teeth. But the piston is about an inch from the top during a compression stroke.

I was thinking of moving the cam back three teeth. I have in the past messed with this when the belt jumped, it is now tight, so pulling it off and rotating the gear will be harder. Is there an easy way. Plus I'm not sure this is the right thing to do.

Timing is off, adjust the belt so that its in time.


Did you read the tutorial in the FAQ about timing belt replacement ? Its very informative and has plenty of pics and explanations on how to get it in time.

 

Car started when I clamped off the fuel line, it runs in idle good that way. Try to rev it up, it boggs down. The motor s at TDC, piston at the top of the number 1 cylnder, rotor pointing at #1.

Must be a fuel problem, #4 cylnder has no change at idle when the plug is pulled. So trying to figure this out now.
