I'm getting a AEM CAI and was just wondering if they were 1 pcs or 2?

 

one piece untill you add a BPV then it becomes two. ONE piece

yeah, and might i suggest tryin to buy a used one. There really is no reason to spend that much money to purchase a new one when a used one will do the job.

The old AEM was 1 piece,the new is now 2 piece.

 

really? i want 1pcs, is there any performance decrease in it being 2pcs?

 

one piece unless you get the bypass valve, which you shouldn't, at least i don't think so

 

It's a one-piece, but you can get Injen in two piece

 

The new AEM is 2 piece,the new AEm has a slightly better filter with an aleg 1 to 2 whp increase.

 

Do the bypass valve actually restrict any air from coming in? Would it help out if I took it out? Only reason why I would want to take it out is because when i got it, it already had one on it.

 

i hear that it opens all the time, meaning that the cold air is gone. and that thing about old one 1 piece not true. mine is over 3 years old and its a 2 piece, my friend got his a year ago and its one piece

 

I bought mine almost 3 years ago,they then released the 2 piece design with new filter.

thats why on the old ones some people have to cut threw to get the bypass valve in.
I'll bet an AEM intake that the 1st generation was 1 piece,the 2nd 2.Your friend probobly got a left over.

 

but when i bought mine it was only aval. in gray, he got his in red, not that it matters.

btw-these are for preludes,mine 4th, his 5th gen

 

i havent heard of a power difference between the 1 or 2 piece, but if your area gets a lot of rain or heavy downpoors consider getting the 2 piece, u can take off the lower section then to avoid getting water in your engine through deep puddles thats what my friend does, unless you get the BPV then ur clear.

 

Yea as for the 2 piece itself no power difference,they do claim there new and improved filter adds 1 to 2 whp.

dont get a bpv...you lose power, and if you have intelligence you can easily avoid problems

 

i got my cold air in january its a one piece design

 

I bought a used one and its a 2 piece. There is a little hole in it but it is wrapped with elitrical tape. This is fine right???? Also, it dudnt come with the rubber piece that connects the 2 pieces or the rubber washers and bolts that hold it down on the side. Can i get these at home depot or auto zone???

 

OK got my CAI yesterday, its 1pcs, its brand new, im pretty sure its one of the newest generation models because the filter says AEM on it and not K&N. if im not mistaken AEM started using their own filters on their newer models? wadda u guys think?
