Default all motor f22 guys

need some info on do's and donts when building one of these engines.

this guy i know has a 92 accord 5spd and he wants to make it a fun daily driver...13sec car is what he is hoping for. im not sure how much power it actually takes to get there with the heavy accord. maybe that would be a good starting point?

it has high miles so i told him to do a stock rebuild with maybe some oem but higher comp pistons out of an h22 or something? bisi cam/springs, a nice header if anyone makes one, intake mani to get rid of the egr and what not.

ideas, thoughts, useful links ? lmk

thanks ahead.

Your going to get a lot of replies saying not to waste your money on the F and do an H swap. It is an instant 200 crank Hp swap.

I would check out Bisi's web site he can hook you up with what your looking for for the F22 if that's the way he wants to go. Use the contact link on his site to get hold of them.

You're not going to get a 13 second Accord with a built F22.

Go with a strong H22A and you'll cut the quarter by about 2 seconds, and close in on low 14's.

Build that up a bit and you can do really well. There's quite a few preludes running 13's NA

We'll just have to wait and see about that

I guess it's a bit more than a built F22 though

Oh I'll wait on it

If the Prelude guys are amazed at a 13sec NA H22 build then I'd be really amazed at a 13 sec F22 NA build.

But is a sleeved 89 x 95 F22 really an F22 in the end? If not than I guess mine doesn't count.

You can have a really fun daily driver with that car and engine. Def. rebuild it and I would go with K20 pistons for a little more comp. and get a custom cam and springs from bisi. I would also look at getting one of his headers if you can. The intake you can send out to blacktrax and have reworked. An H23 transmission will work wonders for you. With a little bit of work it will be a fun car.

which pistons would yield ~ 10.5:1 comp ratio ? i looked on a few online calculators but the numbers they come up with dont seem right.

as far as intake manifold goes, there is no after marked one ? i did some reading and found that accord guys say that switching to the h23 IM makes a noticeable difference. how hard would it be to get the h series skunk2 im on there ? i saw a guy making adapter plates, does he still sell them ? anyone ever use one ?
bisi's header is sweet, but at overkill for this guy i think.
i've also read about the tranny making a huge difference with shorter gears. i actually think there is a guy in town that has a h22 tranny for sale. whats a good price for one of those ?

IRC in order to run the floating wrist pin K20 pistons your also going to need a set of floating pin rods. Unless you can get a set of custom K20 pistons that use press fit wrist pins??

Heck why not get a complete F22 100mm stoker kit and head package from Bisi. Might as well make it a $7K+ engine rebuild

The F22Ax is the way to go. We almost have our H2F intake adapters ready, so you can use skunk 2 H22 or H22 ITB manifolds on the F22A engine. Some pics of our custom F22 "street" headers:

I am looking for some high compression piston also. I want something a little higher than you desire (11.5:1 - 12.5:1).

As far as a OEM piston setup for higher compression. It's a unicorn as far as im concerned. No other piston will fit without serious boring and honing.

Your best be is to contact Bisi, or Arias. I was looking for some other options today, and I actually had some luck with the KMS piston.

If anyone has any other information about high compression pistons for the f22x, that would be GREAT!!!

I have 10.5 and 12:1 compression in stock. Anything higher would have to be custom made.

You can pm bisi for a price on the header. They are ALL custom one off per application. He builds them to suit your engine set up.

For the F22A1 the best bang for the buck parts are

-H23 IM (at least till Bisi makes the H2F IM adapters)
-ANY Ebay header
-Some kind of cam regrind

+30 WHP for like $500

Next step would be high comp pistons, some headwork and ECU tuning... blocks are dirt cheap. Personally I would go for a F23 block w/some K20 pistons and the F22A1 head to get a little more from the motor. Or if you could somehow find a H22 block w/no head for cheap you could rev high and make more from the cam. W/everything done H22 power isn't unreasonable.

Only thing I hate is how the SOHC head looks, lol. I wanna get back in the game

I really really hate you for starting this thread. I was completely content just building my suspension and leaving the motor as-is, but nooooooo you had to show me bisi's website and now i've got visions of a built F dancing through my head.

jerk.

F22 FTW! I'm almost done with mine; Arias pistons, Bisi Cam and Portflow head & runnning an H23 modified intake from BlackTrax.net which I just received today.

It'll be up to Bisi to do his tuning magic and see what numbers we can pull out of this baby.
