90 Sedan - Tired of automatic seatbelts... (I searched)
I have a 1990 LX Sedan with those lovely automatic seatbelts I hate so much. I really want to swap over to the standard 3 point belts. Ive searched and people have asked the same question but nobody has gotten a clear answer yet. Is this possible and what does it involve? Help me Please!!!
So the bottom door side point and the middle point near the e-brake already have places to attach the oem belts right? I just need to make a hole for the upper 3rd point on the pillar? How would I reinforce it?
Im sure you are correct Keith. I'd really like somebody who has done it to chime in and let me know where those points would be and how hard it was. Thank you for those who have already though.

not true i just did this to my sedan you can use all previos locations for mounting the only one that you have to drill is the one on the floor for the locking for the seatbelt but you must grind a bigger hole for the retracter part of the seat belt cause the 90's didnt have one inside of the pillar.
sorry its 4am and i havent gotten any sleep

I'm sure you've already heard this, but if you want the easy way to get rid of the auto seatbelts, take em out and use racing harnesses. if your dead-set in haveing it the OEM look........good luck.

No way your OEM automatic belt equipped sedan has holes for the top shoulder restraint point. AND ITS NOT JUST ANY HOLE EITHER. it has to be a reinforced point. putting a bolt and nut through unibody sheet metal is gonna end up with your head through the windsheild.

the autobelts have a bolt on the b pillar its not the same size as the manual belts but its plenty thick enuff to hold them in my opinion

the retracter part you have to trim it alittle to fit and you have to get creative to mount it. i welded it in with some L brackets.

the other point of the belts just bolts right in.

other part with the previous hole just mounts up

the manual bolt is longer and the autobolts are thinner and shorter you have to buy a longer one so it has room to swivel.

you can even mount this to the seat but its alittle close to you im gonna drill and mount them to the floor

since you removed the autobelts theres gonna be a damn beeping noise that beeps like crazy when ever the car is on 'on' but just unplug the little speaker behind the fuse box under the dash. hope this hleps some people out if anymore question just ask im the ginea pig

Why would they not? The 88/89 Sedans don't have auto belts.
I'm sure Honda (being Honda and using a great deal of logic) didn't completely re-engineer the B pillars of these cars for the 90/91 model years.
Looks like the pics speak for themselves.
All you have to do is go to the junkyard and rip apart an 88/89 sedan. It will have every single piece you need!!!!

I kind of liked the auto belts in my old sedan too. I hate when the belts get old and worn out and don't retract all the way or retract really slow and you have to fight it. The auto belts never had that problem.
I know somebody is going to chime in and say "just go to Honda and have them replace the belts....". I've tried that! They won't do it unless the belt absolutely does not retract. I guess some dealers are easier than others to get free belts from.

I was always under the impression that the B pillars lacked the reinforcement at the top in the ED/EF chassis if it had oem auto belts. Guess i was wrong... nice write up!
