I used to live there. theft rate for Honda's is High. The SW side of town is best IMO. Avoid Aurora CO at all costs. LoJack saved me in Denver, twice.
Lived there for 11 years until early this year - bought mine new in 2000 - 6 attempts to date - none successful. I had a CRX and Integra LS prior to the R and those were fine other than someone breaking into the CRX to steal my stereo.
I will say though the attempts on my car were not done by those who know what they're doing. For example, someone's idea to defeat my club was to simply bang on the steering with a hammer. All that ended up doing was bending the steering wheel..club remained attached. Another person's idea to defeat the alarm was to basically rip out all the wiring going through the firewall. Someone else got into steering column and popped the ignition switch (I think this is what it was....I could be wrong though) but they must have got scared and left.
The latter attempt occurred, seriously, the one single night I accidentally left my car parked outside rather than in my garage. Got home from work to make a grocery list, sat down on couch and proceeded to fall asleep and not wake up till morning. I woke up in a panic thinking "my car had better still be out there", ran down and then noticed it had been broken into. Go figure.
I will say though there's been a few attempts where it was obvious the people had nerves of steel. Major thoroughfare through town, always very busy with vehicles and a fair number of people walking around.....didn't stop them from using a slim-jim to get in, popped the hood and disconnected battery, ripped out one of the sirens, meanwhile the other 4 sirens were still going off....all of this in plain view. I made the painful discovery afterwards the OEM ITR shift **** they stole runs $250 new but at least I still had my car.
So after 8 years and probably 2k in repairs to the damage the attempts caused, I finally had the bright idea to go buy a 4k daily driver truck. I know I know....such an unheard of idea.
Oh well....live and learn.
Now that I'm in CA though I'm operating under the assumption that CA thiefs are just a tad more sophisticated and might have the bright idea to, for instance, bring a set of picks and defeat the club in about 30 seconds rather than bring a hammer and just pound on the steering wheel.
In terms of the numbers of R's in and around Denver......in the 11 years I lived there I saw about 6......most 2000/2001's but just 1 from the 1998 production run.
