Default I remember when....(I bet you do too)

I remember the days when.... dawg you got 15s on your car, they look too small, playa, go get some 18s. Now its dawg you got 18s on your car, they look too big, playa go get some 13 inch steelies for that biatch.

Boy, times have sure changed.

Is it acceptable to have big rims even if they weigh less than stock?

no..because its not JDM.. and its not cool to have a painted hood anymore, apparently.

ive seen integs with lip kits, and 17's.. and civic coupes..but 17's on hatchbacks just looks kinda oversized, IMO.. i have custom 18" spoon sw388's on my car, and a CF hood.. so people wont hate on my car anymore and make me cry.

It doesn't matter what size rims you get.
It all depends on what you like.

As far as the trends go, I think when the modified import explosion occured around 97-99, more people were into the show-type stuff. Make it "look" like a race car. You will notice in the older Super Streets there were not nearly as many engine swaps as there are today. I think part of it may have been from the NATCC Super Touring cars that were in this country for only a couple of seasons. 4-door sedans (Accords, Bimmers, Audis, Ford Mondeos and Dodge Stratuses) that look almost exactly like the street car versions, but slammed to the ground on 19" BBS wheels w/ the "touring" wing on the back and deep front splitter. I admit when I had my Camry I was big into the Super Touring cars and wanted to make my car look like one, too. But now I think more and more people are getting more into the performance aspect of modifying, doing things more for performance and functionality as well as show, or perhaps not even for show at all.

When people start following those that do stuff for performance, just because it's "the thing to do" and not at all for performance reasons, or because they really like it, that's when it's

A guy in my club just traded his 16s for a set of 17s. I was thinking that this was not the most performance minded thing to do, but they did look much better than his old rims. Also he's putting down 240 whp, so it's not like they are slowing him down alot. Now putting 17s on a civic dx is questionable.

You know whats even gheyer than unpainted CF hoods (besides black tires )?

Buying a CF hood for $600 and then spending another $200 on having it painted.
Congratulations!! You just spent almost a grand to loose 25lbs.

I say we all start starving ourselves like horse jockeys. At least thats free!!!

if you got the cash to do it...i say do it...as long as you put it to good use...don't just get a carbon fiber hood to show it off...get one to reduce weight on your car...

Me: "When you get a c/f hood, paint it body color."

Idiot co-worker: "That eliminates the whole point of getting a c/f hood."

Some people are idiots. x 1,000,000
