My clutch is out on my 94 Civic and I was wondering if anybody out there knows how to change it and give me the steps. I've done a lot of motor work and swaps before and is it just about the same amount of work? I just never put in a clutch before. Well If anybody can help me out with the steps or anything and what tools I would need that would be great. Thanks.

 

Well for first timers I would free up my time for about 6-8 hours. It took me just over 6 hours the first time I did a clutch, and now I can do it in half that, and sometimes faster. Basically here's a quick break down...but get a manual to help you out, I will just outline rea quick what you're looking at.

-passenger side wheel, axle, tie rod all need to be removed. From there you need to put up a jack under the motor, as well as a smaller jack for the tranny. Go ahead and start unbolting all the bolts from the tranny/block. Make sure you remove the slave cylinder before you drop the tranny. After that, remove the bolt, for the tranny mount, as well as the torque mount. the tranny should be free and ready to drop. Once removed, you will see the pressure plate, and the clutch is right under it. Remove the 12 pt bolts around the pressure plate, and the clutch and pp should come off. I recommend resurfacing the flywheel, but if you dont want to take it to a shop, just use some sand paper, and clean it up a bit. Slap on the clutch disc, and push the pp over it. Use the alignment tool to line everything up and go ahead and tighten the 12pt bolts. Torque specs are in the manual. Reverse the removal for the install of all your other parts, and good luck.
