OMFG!!!!!!! I NEED HELP REALLY BAD
I have been trying to make my 90 civic si start since last week. I changed a new distributor from dealer and now i got sparks, i also know i have fuel cause whenever my car cranks i could smell the gas and you can see smoke from my exhaust. Today i changed my timing belt, water pump and i thought by doing this its going to fix my car. IT DOESNT START STILL WHAT IS THE PROBLEM! No error codes on my ECU after puttin g my new distributor. COME ON GUYS I NEED HELP I dont want to bring my car to the shop cause i know they be killing my pocket. Whenever i try starting my car it backsfire then it tries to start but no fire. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM!!! im running out of solution now PLEASE! HELP ME!!
ok i didnt replace the ECU when ever turn the key it lights up once so thats means the ECU is ok. and for the timing there is a little story about that, before my car decided not to start it works perfect. but after a long hot day on the parking lot it decided not to start and now i bought new timing belt and new water pump then changed it. I have d16a6 which is 1.6L it has 3 lines and a word up so the line that is pointing down is lined up with the arrow that carved out on the plastic. the crank pulley is the same thing i put it on the arrow that is on the oil pump i gues and the crank is lining up with it. Oh and one more thing you can hear a popping sound whenever it turnover and the spark plug are looks burned wtf happen. thanks for helping me. and how do you check for the grounds
poping sound r u sure both the head and crank are turning over maybe something seized up and its making the timing belt skip teeth idk i still think the car is out of time.... the cam gear should have up facing up with the lines on the side lined up with the bottom of the valve cover( where it meets the head) and the crank should be lined up with the hash mark on the timing cover.

it sounds like mini explosion like popping a bubble but louder kind a like that! imma check it tommorow again and can you guys give me a diagram how it should look like and i just changed the distributor its brand new out from the box. can you give me the order of how you put the spark plug wire to the spark plug wire
the dizzy is the distributor right. sorry for the noobs im just new to fixing this kind of the problem i dont even know what the hell is the problem ive been fixing this for a week now and nothing is working
ummm.....main relay? if it's cranking and not starting, spark plugs are burning i vote main relay....did ya check it? do you hear the engine prime?
i seconed that take the relay out and re flow the points and see how it works out of it works and still dosent start it may be the fuel pump
check your cam timing ,valvelash andmake sure you have the plug wires in the right place 1-3-4-2 #1 being on the backside on the bottom

He said it's pumping gas into the engine. Its not a main relay.

main relay is kind a new i replaced it first when my car won't start. ok and the wire is plug on the distributor is 1 2 from left bottom to right bottom and 3 4 from left top to right top is that right though. after installing the new timing belt the crank pulley is on TDC checked took off the first spark plug then put a straw on it and its TDC how do you check valvelash and i lined up the crank pulley on the arrow by the oil pump.
Mine did something like that and it was the dizzy....it would turn over and pop when it hit the one cylinder it was sitting on. Also check the ground wire by the thermostat had one come loose and it my rex died in it's tracks..just a loose bolt is all it took..
check the rotor in the dizzy, mine did the same thing (wouldn't start or would make that popping sound) turned out the screw holding in the rotor disintegrated (couldn't even find it) and the rotor was spinning loose
the distributor is brand new out form the box, and i checked the dizzy its still in good condition it still have good soldering still and i got it from the junk yard.
ill try to change the spark plug wire reconnect to the right one

I agree with Rayzian, although the distributor is new, the set screw that holds the rotor in place may be loose or missing. That same $#it happened on my car twice. Just double check it to be sure. Its amazing how something that small could cause such a huge problem.
Just an after thought... may not be a bad idea either to check firing order. I know everybody else already said that, but I have to agree with them.
GOOD LUCK!

sounds like you have the firing order wrong to me. when i was putting my motor back togther i got my timing order off the computer at work, i cranked it and would just backfire...recheck your wires to dist. and pleassee check your timing with a timing light!!!!
yeah i would check my timing but the problem is the engine should be working in order to use the timing light and i will check the new distributor if the screw is loose. oh and one more thing before i changed my distributor, my car wont start and its giving me a 15 error code on ECU so i changed the distributor and the error code went away. and for the spark plug wire im still kinda confuse so its goes like this 1 is from left bottom and 2 is on right bottom and 3 is on top left and 4 is on right top is that right
