Default kidfoto photography's first - •drumkid•

So I get a call from Flip at 7pm, says he wants a shoot. Washes his car, but its night time, so Im shocked because Ive never done a shoot with this camera at night, so Pics may have alot of resolution, Im still playing with the features for night shots, But I think I cleaned them up pretty good.

I need a bigger flash

A fun pic.

ENJOY!!

Can someone give me tips on shooting pics in dark areas, I have a stock d40 with the stock Nikon DX 18-55mm lense (af-s)

2, 3, and 5 are out of focus.

It's really tricky to shoot black cars, especially under bright lights, so you may want to try using HDR, or perhaps buy a wireless flash.

Those wheels look so much better than the stockers.

#2 is a good shot, if only that parking brick crap wasn't in the way.
I don't have any tips to give, because I never shoot at night, but stay away from orange lights. and keep shooting!

ive heard black cars are hard to shoot at night. but basically all you should do is get a tripod, use the self timer that way pressing the shutter wont get any bit of camera shake. i dont know what this means- "the lights shouldn't be seen by the camera also"- but maybe means go to a place where not a lot will reflect in the cars paint taking focus away from the actual car to whats "on" the car.

mess around with different angles, and yeah get adobe lightroom and mess around in photoshop with the "hdr" look, but for the love of god- dont go over processing every picture with that god awful fake look to it.

if you don't have a tri-pod... get one. try to focus your attention more on the car than on the location of the car. pictures look good for a first time tho.

well basics would be in cs2, go to image>adjustments>shadows and highlights.

thats one way to do it. there multiple ways to do it like taking your pic in 3's *forgot what its called* but most dslr's have the option to take 3 pics, and each one will be in a different exposure setting. first will be properly exposed *manually dial it in* next will be under exposed, last will be over exposed. than you layer all 3 in photoshop and do magic. or so i hear, still havent gotten around to this editing. I dont like over doing it. but a few members on here do a great job of getting this look.

i recommend adobe lightroom also. stuff is great. and shooting in raw with trying to get hdr look down right.
