Thats not cool. Engine didn't fire right up and its new?
No big deal (I hope) but today when coming out from work i turned the key on my new Accord and the engine turned over several times for 2 or 3 seconds before it started. It usually starts instantly?
Whats up with that...I'm still on my first tank of gas! only 200 miles on this puppy.

May be just growing pains. Needs to break in. Or, more likely an air bubble in your gas line. Welcome to the wonderful "oh ****" world of Honda.
This morning it started a second late again and i could feel a roughness in the steering wheel for 2 seconds or so. by the time i got out and popped the hood to see if anything was amis it stopped...
humm maybe i'm just a paranoid freak. I hope so!

Yea i think so. The first tank of gas was 89 octane from chevron. Second tank i just filled last night was 87 from Arco.
I have tried to keep it under 3K RPMs so far and have gone to 3500 once or twice. No WOT and on the highway i stay at 65 and less but have gone 70 for a bit so i don't get run over.
Does this sound good? The car had 30 miles on it when i bought it. I assume this was from a few test drives. Even if someone gave it WOT a few times for those first 30 miles do you think that would have that much negative impact?
Its just these two times on startup its been wierd other then that it runs fine. I have 330 miles now

maybe older hondas...I had to put 89 in to delay firing so that my engine wouldnt ping and misfire over 4500 rpms, but my honda had 185000 miles, it was a 90, and i autocrossed it many times.

If someone put that in my car, they would get an *** whoopin. In fact, most Honda's need 89+ stock, and putting it in wont hurt.

yes but putting 89 it won't help either except to lighten your wallet. 93 octane gas will offer no benifits over 87 when recommended in these engines. And in my case (ie hard time starting) the lower octane is actually better. Without going into the details of why the fact is higher octane fuels burn faster but are harder to ignite on initial startups.
If you want to try an extreme example get some 100 octane race gas in the winter time and see if your car is more hesitant to turn over for the first time.
Higher octane fuels are only required if you have a higher mileage engine and are experiencing detonation and pinging.

You said you were using the V6. That engine is supposed to be on 89 anyhow. And for the record, the last time someone put 87 in my car, I needed a new head gasket. I never lend my car out. And the person who I leant the car too had to spend a lot of money. I am running an aftermarket ECU which requires premium. The reason I say that most Honda's need 89 is because that is what they use.
I believe that in my service manual for my 90 Accord it said 91 octane or higher.
You are wrong.
"UNLEADED GASOLINE ONLY
Pump octane of 86 or higher"
Unless we have different manuals for the same year of car
Now, buying gas from Joe Schmoe's contaminated old in ground tanks may hurt instead of going to a newer place. Octane dont matter as stated above.
