USDM knowledge needed for kiwi in NZ
Hey,
I have a Japanese assembled 1996 EJ7 coupe here in New Zealand and I am having trouble finding out about the rear suspension, brakes and hubs and what is interchangeable with what. I figured I'd ask here as it's apparently a pretty common car in the US? The car has Honda of America badges on it, and has a Honda of America plaque under the bonnet but it was assembled in Japan and is RHD.
The car is 1/2 way through a 96 spec ITR running gear conversion and has the 4x114.3mm front hubs and 282 rotors but the rear is still oem discs with PCD adapters to let me bolt on the ITR rims at the back. It's pretty crap like that as the tires are real close to the fender.
I want to get rid of the adapters and have 114.3mm hubs at the back too but I am not familiar with these cars as they are so rare here in NZ. It is one of only 5 in the country so no-one knows much about the rear suspension and what common models it compares to or is interchangeable with.
All I know is the OEM discs are tiny and the trailing arm bush is an 80mm as opposed to 85mm.
The car was originally a vtec-e with a CVT gearbox, I believe this spec is called HX is the US?
I mainly want to know if ITR hubs will bolt into the EJ7 trailling arms or will I have to get other trailing arms and if I do, what else will this mean liek will I need to change the lower arms etc?
If I use ITR hubs I guess I would have to change to ITR rear brakes as well (or re-drill the 4x100 hats) Will the ITR brake calipers bolt up to the EJ7 trailing arms?
Sorry for all the questions, yes I have searched I just cant find anything conclusive and it doesn't help that my car is a bit of a weird one.
I will have a look at the calipers tonight and get the code and the rotor diameter if that will help.
Cheers.

I have heard of people doing hub swaps with other parts but it involves some custom machining work. I dont' think it is worth the hassel. Just use all itr parts(trailing arm assembly and lca).
Ah sweet, does that mean I keep the fork type EJ7 lower arms or to I have to change to eye-type ITR ones?
I hope not because that would mean new shocks.
Do you know if there is any reason why the ITR hub wont fit the EJ7 trailing arm? Or is it just because of the brakes not lining up?
Thanks.
**edit sorry Ploeg8393 you beat me to it. ITR's here in NZ are nearly all jdm so they have eye type LCA's, changing to an eye type would mean I also have to swap shocks.
NZDM ITRs do have the fork type LCAS but they are quite rare and it would be nigh on impossible to find a set off one.
Hopefully the fork type EJ7 LCA would bolt up to the JDM ITR trailing arm.

I've asked around and it sounds as thought the fork and eye type LCAs are interchangeable so I'm going to do what you guys suggest and get a set of trailing arms complete with hubs and brakes and keep my LCA's.
It's a shame as I just bought new 80mm urethane trailing arm bushes 2 days ago
Cheers.
