A lot of people including myself expected the 848 to do real well in the supersport classes but it's not winning like I thought it would. I've heard reports of the bikes having issues too. I'd buy a 600rr personally /honda fanboi

Like fairing bolts backing out because of all the vibration? *rolls eyes* LoL You'd figure they'd give you a bottle of Loctite for what you pay.

But they're boooooootiful!

no not that, engine and electrical problems. One guy on NESBA had problems with it every weekend and only had 1000 miles on it. Gave it back to the dealer and got a gsxr 750 instead

Dang! Jinxing me already. I only have 105 miles on it. Oh well...

I honestly didn't expect the 848 to be a leap in performance from a 600 to begin with. You got to understand it's still a middleweight class. It fills the gap just fine though. Gobs of torque and great handling in a small and easy to handle package. My days of carving canyons and mountains are done anyways. I'll leave that to the more energetic youngsters with nothing to lose as I just cruise by and hope my guage cluster doesn't cut out on me.

It does, however with a limited budget and crazy work schedule it's going to be a chore to get on the track. I'd love to try that out one day, that's what I keep telling myself.

nothing to lose? I have plenty to lose. It's something I enjoy though and if I cut it out of my life well... I'm not sure what I'd do.

Damn man, I saw on your profile that your age is 25...is that for real? If so, don't make me feel old LOL.

I'm 25 and my days of canyon carving, knee draggin' and hooliganism are just starting

I had a really, really bad wreck about a year ago. My bike was completely demolished and I got out of it with only a sprained pinkey and my life. My friends told me I could've died that day. It was my reality check. Not on the roads anymore. Now don't let me stop you from doing what you enjoy. Have at it, I'll watch.

Anywho, who won the shootout? I'm guessing the 600RR.

I understand your point man, but well, like I see...it was not your day. When it's your day, be either on a bike or sleeping in your bed, you will not be able to avoid it.

But it's not like I go 10/10's on the street...I have never pushed myself from my comfort zone...and I try to minimize risks. But there is always the chance of **** happening, but well, I knew the risks of riding before I got my first bike.

Try to do some trackdays when you have the chance

The CBR600RR is a very well rounded bike, which is a good thing in test likes these. If a person were wanting a 600cc Japanese bike for track-only purposes, the R6 seems like it would be a great choice, or if not picky about the country of origin, the Daytona or 848 either one.

I ride my bike to work daily, canyons/mountains on my days off and hopefully some trackdays by the end of the year... for me, the 600rr was simply the best fit. I respect all of the bikes in the shootout, as I have ridden all of them and know a little bit about their characters. When I was looking to purchase my '07 600rr I rode all of the Japanese 600's and 2 of the 1000's, a Ducati 749, Triumph Daytona and a slew of other bikes (SV1000S, Bandit 1200, etc...).

If anyone is looking to purchase a bike, purchase a bike because it is the one you want, and not because a magazine liked it or it was the 1st 600 to hit 170mph

I'm sorry, was there a 1098 in this test also? I guess I failed to see it.

This is where I completely discredit this article. Keep reading magazines and believing them, I'll be out riding.

Funny, how after three years, and soon to be four, the japanese still can't beat triumph in these points.

In one post you discredit the article, but in the next you are supporting it because it praises what you ride?
