Default 2000 Civic LX Short Ram Air Intake Question

I got a air intake for my civic, it was cheap so i picked it up. I removed all my old air intake black plastic, an now I'm confused. The intake i have hooks directly into the stock air box, just remove the stock filter and let the new cone do the work.

Other then where it fastens to the stock air box via a hose clamp there is no other mount or support. Is it ok to just let the thing rest on the fender and w/e else it decides to lean on, or is a mounting bracket missing and i need to pull some Macgyver moves to make one.

Thanks

It sounds like you just have the cone, if thats the case then yes just tighten the clamp really good and be done with it.

sorry for being unclear. I have a pipe with just one bend, pipes about 2 ft long, frm where it connects to the airbox it extends so that the cone is right about where the stock intake opening was.

You keep mentioning connecting to the stock air box, i think your talking about the intake manifold. Since it now looks like you have the whole short ram, most do come with a bracket (at least AEM i know), if you dont have one the least you can is put some zip-ties on somewhere to hold it up until you can think of something else.

Where the stock box filter is on the car is the only part of the stock intake I leave on (remove the filter). The new pipe i have hooks right into the "box" replacing the black plastic tubing which I'm considering the "stock intake".

Thanks for the help Hatch, i'll either make some kind of bracket or just get a piece of PVC an connect the cone only right outa the "box" .

the "BOX" you speak of is your INTAKE MANIFOLD

the real air box is your stock "intake" its called the stock air box

red circle is what you are looking for...

blue circle is where your intake manifold and throttle body is located...

"stock air box" is the old "intake"
