I was wondering if would be better to get a turbo kit or build myself the turbo set up? I got a 01 gsr in my 96 hatch. Alot of people been tellin me that I can run 10 lbs of boost on stock internals with out hurting the motor.

 

building a turbo kit will be alot cheaper than buying a good turbo kit, they run anywhere from $2500-$4000for a good one and thats what you want... but the good thing is that they come with everything, with building your own, your gonna encounter alot of little bullshit parts, and possible maybe a lil fab but nothing crazy..

if you build it right and get an amazing tune you should be fine but 10lbs is the most i would go...

 

It all depends on how good the "kit" is or how good the parts you would use to piece one together is. You can normally piece a decent setup together for 2-3k. The 10 psi thing depends on what turbo you have, 10 psi on a common t3/t4 (.57 trim) would be fine, but something like a gt28 or something of that nature would be too much at 10 psi.
