I've noticed since i swaped my b20 couple weeks back that when I'm cruising in 5th about 3500 ish or higher and i let off the gas there is a loud whining noise. I'm thinking its coming from my tranny. What are the chances that its my diff about to blow?
its a ys1 with about 50,000 on it from my old xsi swap
new act flywheel
new exedy stage 1
new throw out barring ect
I change the tranny fluid every 3-4 oil changes never any mettle shavings always honda trans fluid and 1/2 qt syncromesh.
shifts fine other than that

Input shaft bearing is going bad I believe.

Can anyone esle veriy thats its the input shaft going out.. can it be something esle. im having the same issue.. just got done with a swap.. tranny was fine before..

i'd bet it's the input shaft bearing.Lucky you only hear it in 5th.I only heard mine i 1st(loud wine)I got my tranny rebuilt but as for your question i'd say thats what is wrong.

 

Now i hear this whining noise even in netural as soon as i rev the motor up to 4k. can it be the clutch kit too.. maybe throw out bearing?? the tranny was fine, shift perfect in every gear. i just changed out my clutch and this is like my 30th clutch job ive done with cars ive own and my buddy cars.
