Need Caliper Help
My right rear caliper on my 96 Accord is sticking on and wearing through pads like mad, and warping rotors. I really don't want to pay $60 for just the caliper and find out it was just the bracket, or vice versa. Anyone know what would cause the pad setting against the piston to wear at an agle and be bevelled horizontally? Is that just the bracket slides, or the piston sticking? And I had a service center tell me a long time ago when I got an alignment that the E-brake cable wasn't retracting properly, but when I looked at it today I have no idea how you could tell just by looking, and I'm not a n00b to cars at all, just to these rear calipers. If someone knows what the problem probably is and an easy fix, that would be terrific. I am just hesitant to pay $250 apiece for loaded calipers at auto zone.
well im not so sure on whats happening. but my guess is that the fluid from the ABS is stuck and causing the calpier to stay and not retract. and if you dont have the ABS then i dont know what i can tell you.
if it makes you feel any better i had to replace 4 rotors 6 pads and 2 calipers at a cost of 810 bucks. just becuase the fluid from the ABS seized and couldnt get the piston to move and the only brake that was doing to the breaking was the front right and we didnt know about this and been driving for 8 months before knowing.

Yeah, ABS light comes on after awhile, and makes a God-awful electronic moaning for several minutes first. It got better after I replaced one caliper on the front and bled that line, but I think I need to bleed the rest, assuming my damn caps don't twist off. Did just bleeding it help then? I hope I can just bleed out each line and get it to straighten the hell out. Or did you have to replace the calipers too?
Try removing the caliper and moving the piston in and out with your favorite method. Maybe it's just sticking alittle. While it off, clean and lube the sliders. The do a bleed if it hasn't been done lately.
