Default Anyone else burning ballasts out on ebay kits?

I recently bought a xentec hid kit from ebay. The kit worked fine for about 10 days and then i burnt a ballast out. So the seller sent me a new one and it didn't last but 30 minutes and it too burnt out. I am wondering if my car is doing this or are the ebay ballasts that poor of quality?

I've got several ebay ballasts that have been stellar with over 3 years of use or abuse that are still working fine, I've had plenty of bulb failures but rarely a ballast fails...

I bought a Xentech HID kit a while back too, and about 3 months later the bulb exploded AND the inverter burnt out (I dont know which one came first- probably the bulb though). Oh yeah and the first time I got the kit they gave me 1 10K bulb and 1 8K bulb, so i had to re-order bulbs. But for 75 bucks, who cares...

my friend bought those fake bosch ones and they lasted only 3 weeks.
then you have to pay for shipping both ways back to china about 60 buck plus a 20 dollar processing fee. He has alreaqdy shipped these bad ballasts like 3 times so he is out 200.00. When you see that it is being shipped from china everyone should be cautious.
the warranty is just worthless because of the shipping you have to pay.
get some locally and for sure no shipping or processing fees

I just got a kit for a friend (he's got oe halogen projectors) and the ballast used were so under populated with ANYTHING that they failed to stay lit and get to full brightness....

From left to right: Ebay ballast that sucked, Ebay ballast that worked better than the Hella and The Hella Gen 3 ballst.... makes ya wonder... Tho with this being said my Hella gen 3's won't fire up on the 13.3v 3amp bench power supply but the middle ballast will, which is frankly shocking...

This is a useless comment, I know how to get ballast to fire, I had a pc power supply at hand for testin ballasts before I found it's 12volt rail was dying. I was more making a point that the middle ballast was able to fire the bulb off 3amps were as OE Hella Gen3's could not. Or to clear the statement up: If it can fire up off 3amps it'll damn sure be problem free getting it's power off the factory power wires...

Also the point of the pic is to show the population of the ballast and that it's what's under the hood that matters....

Shouldn't this be "DON'T BUY KITS".... frankly if you are a smart shopper you can get great stuff off ebay with ZERO issues....

ebay kits are so cheap so if it does not work throw them in the garbage and buy another set. 50 bucks costs less to fill up your gas tank

No but I bought from Xenith Xenons whom is a vendor on him and so far I really recommend them. Good service so far even though I've had the HID's less than a week I've ridden with them some and love them so far. I paid $110 for a set for my R1 as they have a sale going on for $30 off right now so that makes them $110 shipped a set.
