question about d16a6 head and vtec

question about d16a6 head and vtec

i'm new to the whole vtec thing. My question is since the d16a6 head has the spot for the vtec solenoid would i be able to get the solenoid, cam and the wire harness for the motor and have vtec functional?

No, that's just a casting mark. You lack all those slightly relevant oil passages.
