b16a first or second gen? how do you know?
the motor i purchased was a b16a second generation with a y21 transmisson. the engine serial number has the jdm 4 letter engine stamp of b16a. the serial number is a 5 million series with the second number after that being 4. this tells me that my block is a second generation b16a. the problem with my motor is that i believe that my head is a first generation head because it is stamped with the year 91 on it. it also has the code pr3-1 on it. could some one tell me what this means (pr3-1)? did i buy a second gen short block and a first gen head? please help. also the intake manifold and valve cover is a second gen.
do not worry at all. me and my friend have the exact same motor as you. its stamped 91 because it was casted in 91. it was then sold in a 92 hatchback. all honda engines are casted 1 year before they are put in the car and sold.
so dont worry
so dont worry
my second says pr3-2
