TYC projector, Depo clear fogs with HID X 2 installation for my EK with photos
i bought some TYC proejctor headlights, Depo clear fogs and 2 McCulloch HID conversion kits.
Atleast the TYC are SAE and DOT approved

this afternoon spent about less than 1 hour to remove the bumper skin off and both stock headlights so I can install these TYC babies.
Since I was doing this DIY outside on the driveway fingers were getting frozen a tad and didn't even bother making a harness to adapt the HID low capsule and the halogen HI bulb.
I just left the old Bi-Xenon ballast setup in there and wait when I got more time. So no high beams for me at the moment as if I really need them with the fogs on. LOL!!!!

here are the pics of my depos getting installed.
interfacing HID wiring with the relayed harness that came with the DEPO lights.

here are some pics with them on
ogs are off and only headlight is on

some more night shots

daytime running lights only

Well the TYC lights were DOT approved, until you put the Mccullochs in them LOL...Looks light a decent setup though.

it could still be street legal or DOT if you look at the comparison with the hid bulb vs the halogen bulb. both the filaments positioning is identical just that the hid is brighter but it should not affect the beam patterns or anything.
where are those pics of the electrical connections? i'm curious?

i don't use my highbeams but they are there for DRL.
with my clear fogs on everyone pulls to the right when the see my coming from behind.

No, it can't be legal. The way an HID bulb emits light is different than a filament-based bulb aka halogen bulb. Therefore, it becomes illegal.
Those projectors have no width at all and the horizontal alignment is horrible to say the least(cutoff not parallel to the ground!). However, at least you're not blinding people.

Because your aiming of the HID hits the side mirrors and the glare from your fog housings hit the rearview mirror. That will be annoying as hell. Same as if a truck was tailgating you with his high beams and auxiliary lights on

In most halogen bulbs the filament is horizontal with a few bulb bases that have filaments that are vertical like the H1 models.
I find that when the orientation of the filament is not the same then you get all sorts of problems. Atleast with the bulb pictured he is have the filament in the same position to match the halogen one but still it may be slightly off but not as bad like fitting H4 or 9003 with hid bulbs.

If you look at this picture the the filament is not in exaclty the same position, it might look like it but the base is not equal at the bottom. And that would not matter anyways, HID lights do not create light like halogen lights, they create and arc which ignites a ball of gas aorund the arc, and it does not emit the same way as a filament does at all.
You still don't get it, do you?
Filament bulbs emit light by lighting up the filament as parallel.
Xenon bulbs emit light by exciting the salt particles in that bubble you see almost on top of the HID bulb.
Also, xenon bulbs have a pattern when they emit light. It is not scatted as a filament-based bulb

Oh I get it, but its the bullshi# marketing of these so called retrofit companies that still sucks people in.

about what?
about what?
I was saying that I "DO GET IT" about how these retrofits do not work....just replying to your last post.
But that the marketing and BS hype about cheap retrofits makes a good deal of people think that they are safe, and of good quality which they are not.

what do you think a cheap retrofit would be?

That'd be called a conversion kit
That'd be called a conversion kit
SCEMANTICS, and actually it would technically be a retrofit, as you are retrofitting different bulbs into those housings.
But to avoid confusion from now on, I will now refer to this type of thing as a conversion.

well the lights work much better than the stock OEM halogen ones and it does not blind oncoming traffic.
but you can do what you please
i have a similar setup and wondering how you branched out the headlight outputs for the low and high beams?

Yeah those projectors have nowhere near the beam width that HID projectors do.
You should replace the projectors in those headlights w/ some HID projectors and D2S bulbs.
And where the heck is there snow in June?? Southern hemisphere?
