Default How many of you have owned a lojack?

So my friend has recently told me about an anti-theft device for your car called a LoJack. Basically it's this mechanism that tracks your vehicle so once it has been stolen you can call up the cops give them your vin number and they'll track it within a few hours - 24 hours max is what their quotas states. Now I really want to hear it from you guys, who here actually has a Lojack for their car? have you guys ever had your car stolen with it? how was the experience? How long did it take for your car to be returned and was there any damage to it? Is it true that they can also track how fast you're going and other information that may be considered private?

I believe you have to pay extra for that, there is basic lojack, just the location when the vin is activated. You can pay extra to be alerted when the car is moved and stuff like that.

To be up front, I want Honda-Tech users to know that I'm an employee with LoJack. While I'm interested in reading about people's experiences with LoJack, I wanted to provide a little background to the initial posted question.

LoJack is a small, silent Radio Transceiver that is hidden in your vehicle by a certified LoJack technician. Once installed, the Unit is automatically registered in the LoJack Database, which interfaces with the National Crime Information Computer system used by law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

In the event of a theft, you report the incident to the police, who make a routine entry into the state police crime computer, resulting in a match of the LoJack System's unique code against the state VIN database. This process automatically triggers the activation of the LoJack Unit in your vehicle.

When activated, the LoJack Unit begins emitting an inaudible signal that can be tracked by police cars and aviation units that are equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers. The LoJack Police Tracking Computer receives the LoJack Signal and leads the police to your stolen vehicle.

To wrap this up, we do offer a guaranteed recovery within 24 hours or your money back on the LoJack Unit (suggested price $695). You can pay an extra $300 for our Early Warning System, which contacts vehicle owners in up to five ways—by home phone, work phone, cell phone, e-mail and text messaging—if their vehicle is moved without their permission. Basically, if the car is started without the LoJack provided key fob, you will be alerted. LoJack doesn't track how fast you're going.

Hopefully, this helps. Honda-tech users might also be interested in reading our newest educational booklet - Get in the Know. It contains the latest stats and information on vehicle theft and vehicle theft protection. http://www.lojack.com/knowledg...L.pdf

You mean you KNOW where the theif through the brain out the window? Unless you put the LoJack stickers on your car, the theif will have no idea you have it. With an alarm, it will be obvious to the theif you have one. People hide alarms so horrible these days (there isn't really any "good" place the put them) that you can find them pretty quick.

An alarm serves its purpose as the first line of defense in theft and shouldn't be used for tracking.

you can hide them pretty well as long as you do it yourself. plus no thief would suspect gps tracking in an integra just an ordinary alarm..
