Default Car won't start

Went to start my car and all the dash lights came on... Went to start, heard a click, all the dash lights go off, checked the battery voltage 12.3V. When I go to start, the battery voltage drops to near zero! some sort of ground? Where could it be? I checked the starter cut relay looked fine. Even jumped across the relay with same results just a click, dash lights out and no starter turn.

sounds like a dead battery. i have had batteries show 12v but would not crank. also check for corrosion at the terminals, clean them if necessary and tighten them up. if that doesn't help then try a jump start with another car. then drive to the auto parts store to get a new battery.
