Default 2001 civic ground controls general question

Ive looked around and most of the memeber here say that the best way to lower the car is ground controls than springs. I know you need new shocks for springs, but if i got the ground control sleeve coils do i still need to change out the shocks on my 01 ex from stock to something else? Or can I keep the stock ones?

Thanks

do you even know WHY people keep recommending ground controls and how many of them actually USE ground controls?

if you kept reading, you wouldve found out that you can keep the stock ones but comfort and performance will decrease.

honestly it all depends on what your going for. If you want only 1.5" lower than stock, go with sport springs. Although many say you will need new struts when you get sport springs, the reality is that you will get more life out of your stock struts w/ sport springs, than with coil overs because people tend to go lower with coil overs.

it also depends on the roads you drive on. My koni's only lasted 5 months when lowered only 1.5inches.

Thanks guys, I mainly wanted to lower about 1.5" just for a little better handling and the roads I drive on are very nice and paved so I dont think it would do that much damage to the shocks.

just ground controls with stock shocks will give you a false sense of security IMO. people think they handle fine and think the "bounciness" is good when its actually HORRIBLE. if your going to lower, do it right the 1st time.

I'm on GC's and OEM shocks. Not for too much longer though. Ride isn't too bad, and I'm pretty low, I've had them on for 4-5 months now.
