man, if you started looking for a 1998 integra 10 years ago, i think it would've been pretty easy

RS Integras did not have a sunroof. if it is a GS-R, its vin will start with DC2 (two door) or DB8 (four door). it's DC4/DB7 for an LS. personally, I wouldn't want to buy somebody else's swapped car. if they blew the motor, I wonder how else they treated their car. if they didn't blow it, then it wasn't enough power for them and I don't think they were driving it like Grandma would. I just go for unmolested Integras from old men owners.

if you can get the VIN, you can punch it through http://www.carfax.com/ and it will return something like:

VEHICLE HISTORY SEARCH RESULTS:
VIN: JH4DB8582VS000225
Vehicle: 1997 ACURA INTEGRA GS-R
Records: 9 records found in the CARFAX Vehicle History database

Since you said its a B18C (hoping you know what you're really talking about), it's a JDM motor equivilant to a USDM B18C1 (GSR motor). Did you get this number off the engine block?

i live in an area where acuras are hard to come by but the motor did say b18c1. i just went to look at it again. it does have a sunroof. so if it is a gsr could it be a good deal for 4500. it is a one owner car not driven hard. but i do know a bit bout hondas just not tegs. there really hard to find round here. thanx

Yes, it sounds like it's a GSR. Checking the VIN on the dash or the firewall will confirm that. If it is a GSR, and it's in good shape, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

i got a hold of the vin and it said a dc4 98 teg gs. i dont think its a v-tech though it doesnt say on the valve cover. i saw pics of tegs with vtech and they had it on the cover. but is it still a good buy.

If it doesn't say DOHC VTEC on the valve cover, it's not a VTEC. The GS is still a solid car but I really do think you could get a better deal on an Integra for $4500... Check your local CraigsList, eBay, Team-Integra. Please do not take this the wrong way as I am only looking out so that you don't get ripped off. You don't sound like you know Integras as well as you should if you are in the market so please roll with a friend of yours who knows Hondas when you go to check one out. Best of luck to ya

B18C1 is the GS-R motor. It should say vtec on the valve cover.

The chassis code is not a GS-R, so this motor was swapped in.

If the valve cover doesn't say vtec than that doesn't make much sense. Unless they swapped in the GS-R motor and put a different valve cover on.

$4500 for a GSR with 117k is a very good deal, almost too good to be true...

Buying a car (especially a 10 year old honda/acura) is something that you should be careful about.

I wouldn't suggest buying this car, unless you learn them inside and out and know what's happened in it's past
