OP, the whole damn head is different. Remember VTEC-E on the old Civic? The K20A3 motor out of the EP Hatch has a similar system. The valves run on 12 valves and then open up to 16, the cams have only two profiles on them... yadda yadda yadda. It's an economy system in disguise. So yes, the cams and valve springs are different, but that's because it's a whole different VTEC system. The K20A2 from the Type S has a more traditional VTEC setup and crossover point with traditional cam profile switching mechanisms, but it also has variable cam timing and other new systems.
Basically, they're different animals altogether.

I concur. There are numerous amount of threads quite similar to this, with the lack of detailed information.
This gives one a hard time to find the information he or she is looking for while going through all of the pointless threads.

Thanks for the info, I'm not very good at searching but I tried it and didn't find an answer like this one, I juts thought the compression ratio was different because of the pistons or rods, didn't know it was a whole different head and vtec system, thanks.
