motor question
So, single cam y8. Before i get a stage 2 cam.. anything i should know? any unreliability? alot of stuff is getting replaced at that time.( timing belt, water pump, head gasket and studs, valve springs+retainers, port and polish, VAFC) I just want to know if itll be ok for a daily driver with all that stuff.
everything sounds good except for the vafc. the vafc will trick your ecu into changing your fuel but does nothing for ignition. i suggest if you want to get the most out of this setup, you need an adjustable cam gear and a chipped ecu for tuning. maybey a slight mill of the head to bump compression but that is something you need to search. good luck.
wait ur getting port and polished and stage 2 cams and etc.. etc???? all that money on a single cam vtec?? I say you just buy a b16 and call it a day.. youll get way more power in stock form then modifying the d16y8.. and would be a better daily driver then a modified d16y8.. matter of fact if ur on a budget I say get a b18b or b20b motor..
i was looking for an eg shell cuz i have a b20 block. i figured id work from there but now. my car got stolen today so i have some other decisions.
