I had a customer stop in our shop to get his 2002 Indian Scout. These bike are impossible to find parts for, and I do not want to be replacing these with universal parts as he is paying real good money to have this bike fixed.
Along with a bunch of other parts, the clutch perch and brake perch were damaged in the wreck. I had to bend back some other parts made of the same material and they were a PITA to budge, but eventually I got them.
I cannot source a stock clutch perch, nor brake perch (brake rezzy built in). The ears where the levers snapped clear off. The ear for the brake perch is still intact, the clutch perch ear was lost.
I basically have 3 options, fix these, get universal ones, or have one off parts machined from billet.
So my question is, can this metal be welded? Would it be possible if I took it to a fab shop to have the one ear welded together, and have another ear made and welded to the clutch perch? The only other idea I can get to salvage these parts is to have the ear areas machined from something like billet. Then have the perches machined to allow the new ear piece to be bolted on...essentially a 2 piece perch setup.

i've welded some pretty crappy metals before, my vote goes for welding it.
Anytime I've welded material like that though, its always been on a part that's relatively stress free. I dont know whether you'll eventually get cracking in the heat affected zone or not, kinda depends on the weld/welder.
