help removing stripped rear stud
one of the studs in my rear hub is completly stripped not allowing me to take off the lug.does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the stud from spinning.
i tried to take off the other 3 lugs and spin the wheel so that stud was at the lowest point, than i pulled toward me from the top of the wheel to try and help hold it in place while i hit it with the gun. it didnt work lol
anyone have any ideas?
thanks

Hello. I work at Les Schwab Tire and encounter this alot. First thing, do you have the stock steel wheels on it or are they custom cause that will change your approach. You are obviously going to be needing to be replacing the stud and nut so if you have a cut off wheel...you can try going that route by cutting it at an angle on one side as close to the bottom of the nut as possible without hitting the wheel and then again on the other and then break it off...or you can try the two person route. You have someone take a large pry bar an pull on it as you run a gun. this works 90% of the time. It just needs ALOT of pressure held on it hence the second person.
i have some ls meshies..so i have like okay room.
yeah idc if i ruin the stud or hub because i have rear disks waiting to be put on but i cant get the wheel off! haha
ill probably get a dremel and go to town..hopefully it works!
