Default Difference between B16 LSD tranny and 96 Spec Type R tranny for GSR ?

So in short I have had my b18c paired to my cable LS transmission because of the fact that my car is cable and it is very hard to find a good condition cable B16 tranny.

I am now switching to hydro and have thought about a JDM GSR tranny with LSD, but have came to my conclusion that I would like a shorter tranny based on the searches I have done here with "more" people saying that the B16 tranny has made their GSR's much more fun to drive and they should have done it much sooner.

Now I am deciding between a JDM B16 tranny with LSD or a 96spec Type R tranny. I know both of these transmissions use the same gear ratios and LSD, but the type R trans has dual synchros in all the gears. Does this make a difference ? Are there any other differences that I am not aware of ?

I have been quoted by HMO for a 98 spec type R for $1500 which is more than I want to spend so that is out of the question. I want to keep this tranny swap under $2000. The 96spec is $1200 and a B16 with LSD is $1000.

I am going to be purchansing the Innovative Motor mounts and cable to hydro which is $350 and a new clutch ~ $250-300(exedy stage 1) which is about $650 and plus whichever trans I choose which will come out to about $1650-1850.

So help me choose a trans for my b18c honda-tech. Thanks.

I know some people should have some input on this. More than 30 views and no valid responses ?

Thanks, but I already have that site in my favorites and it does not answer my question regarding the differences between the b16 LSD and 96 R tranny.

According to that link, the ratio's are not the same, and depending on which B16 application you are looking at (tranny code) the final drive may also be different. Is it a Y1 or S80/Y80 B16 tranny that you are looking at?
