Default HF to Si EGR.

Just swapped a D16A6 into my 89 CRX HF. There doesn't seem to be a spot for the egr (HF's intake manifold had a spot for it to bolt up). Wondering what needs to be done with the egr black box and vacuum lines. Everything else has plugged up perfectly.

Plan to chip the HF ECU to increase the rev limit, unless an MSD 6AL will do the trick.

Any help is appreciated!

inside the black box you need to use the MAP sensor and the purge cut-off solenoid - the other 2 items are for the EGR which you don't need with the D16A6 - connect vacuum lines just like the D16A6 - you must use the HF engine harness on the D16A6 or it will not run - also, the HF harness doesn't have a connector for the Fast Idle Control Valve on the back of the 89-91 D16A6 intake manifold (not on 88) - just leave the FICV unconnected and block off the vacuum ports

Have you verified that your year ECU is in fact chippable? Last I recall only the later year models (90-91) were able to be modified unless progress has been made on that front.

Do you plan to modify the ECU to give the proper amount of fuel/timing for the D16A6? The HF (D15B6) uses much less and would run the new motor terribly. I personally would just source a Si (PM6) Ecu and call it a day. Besides, even after chipping etc... the PM8 (HF ECU) would still be looking for that EGR Valve.

Thanks guys, got the EGR crap lined out.

And thanks for the tips on the ECU; I've read that both will work.. But screw the crap rev limit I'm grabbing a PM6. Plus I don't want to have to screw with A/F and timing on an ECU that probably can't be messed with.
