BeaveRun Test 'n Tune, 8/10
Steel Cities Region is hosting a test 'n tune event at the new western PA BeaveRun facility on 8/10 (saturday). Cost is $40, prepayment and preregistration required. This is a vehicle dynamics lot, 6+ acres, new asphalt. Surface has good grip, but seems fairly easy on tires. You'll get seven hours of available course time (and one hour working), with the entry capped at 30 drivers to ensure as many runs as you can stand. In addition, we'll have some scales, basic alignment equipment, and hopefully a timer that can do segment times (we need to verify that we know how to make our JACircuits timer do this).
------More Details------
Schedule:
Tech opens at 8:30am and is available all day. Course opens at 9am and closes at 5pm. Every driver (or their representative) is required to work for one hour. That gives you up to seven full hours of tuning and seat time!
Course(s):
Courses are still to be determined, but will include standard elements like an optional direction skid pad, fast and slow slaloms, offset gates, various speed sweepers, etc. Changing the course during the day is also under discussion. Tell us what you.d like to see!
Facilities:
We'll have a set of scales, alignment equipment, jacks, and jack stands for participants to use. We'll also have the timer there (usage depending on courses), a few stop watches, and the PA to announce times and worker changes.
Working:
You'll be required to work one hour during the day. Three workers per hour will be used, two to work course (bring a bicycle, roller blades or the like if you have em!), and one to do timing and announcing. Pick a slot when you register or at the start of the day.
Location:
BeaveRun Racetrack (on the 6+ acre asphalt Vehicle Dynamics Area).
Car Requirements:
Your car must pass a standard SCCA technical inspection. Numbers and class designations are optional.
Cost:
$40 per driver.
How to Register:
Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Refunds will not be given, though we will maintain a waiting list to help you sell your spot if you're unable to attend. Contact Mark Andy via email at marka@telerama.com (preferable) or 724-378-5573 to register. You'll have one week from time of registration to send in full payment to confirm your spot.
----Directions to BeaveRun-----
From the PA turnpike (76):
Take exit #2 off the PA turnpike onto route 18 North. Follow 18N through the intersection with 351 (near Koppel). 0.8 miles after crossing 351, the BeaveRun access road will be on your left. Look for the sign.
From Rt. 60:
Take the combined PA turnpike & rt. 351 exit. Bear left off the ramp, following the signs for rt. 315. Turn right onto 351 East. After approximately two miles, turn left onto rt. 18 N. 0.8 miles after turning onto rt. 18 N, the BeaveRun access road will be on your left. Look for the sign.
From downtown Pittsburgh (approximately 47 miles):
Follow 279 South (the Parkway West) out of the city. 279 S will turn into rt. 22 at the I79 interchange, then into rt. 60 North at Robinson Towncentre. Shortly after Robinson Towncentre, take the 60 N fork off to the left. Note, this is all the 'Parkway West' and is one road (despite the name changes). You can also just follow the signs to the Pittsburgh International Airport. From here, follow the 'From Rt. 60' directions above.
