Default looking for info on jdm 16 a and jdm 16 b

i just traded a 93 del sol for these two swaps. i know the b has 15 more horse power, but im looking for the specs on these motors and tranny setups. id like to understand the the differences in these two set ups so i can decide which one to use. does the b get the 15 horses from just different cams? hondas are new to me, but my boys know them pretty well. thanx reyy

The info is on this site with a search you can find it.

The b16b is well a destroked ITR to simplify things, and the b16a is a well b16 normal b16 motor.

What exactly are you doing build wise?

I hate to over simplify but the B is a better motor for 9/10 builds maybe 10/10.

what do you mean by 9/10 10/10 build? are you saying a us b 16 is the same as a jdm b16? as i stated, honda motors are new to me. what is an itr? build wise? im just going to make up some new mounts and get these motors into thier new homes. once i get the bugs worked out on the swaps and have driven them for a while, ill look into tweaking them a bit. im kind of hoping for 225 horsepower in the end. i was hoping for some exacting info on these motors so i can figure out which one will go in my car and which one will go in my sons car. my younger son has a 96 integra with a b 20 block, gsr head and a close ratio tranny with an lsd. as far as searching sites archives for info, ive never been very good at that, and time is short with me. ive searched dsm sites , v dub sites and fiat sites. i usually just get frustrated. im not from the computer generation. i guess thats my problem. just hoping for some friendly help. thanx guys.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by spiderrey &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">what do you mean by 9/10 10/10 build? are you saying a us b 16 is the same as a jdm b16? as i stated, honda motors are new to me. what is an itr? build wise? im just going to make up some new mounts and get these motors into thier new homes. once i get the bugs worked out on the swaps and have driven them for a while, ill look into tweaking them a bit. im kind of hoping for 225 horsepower in the end. i was hoping for some exacting info on these motors so i can figure out which one will go in my car and which one will go in my sons car. my younger son has a 96 integra with a b 20 block, gsr head and a close ratio tranny with an lsd. as far as searching sites archives for info, ive never been very good at that, and time is short with me. ive searched dsm sites , v dub sites and fiat sites. i usually just get frustrated. im not from the computer generation. i guess thats my problem. just hoping for some friendly help. thanx guys.</TD></TR></TABLE> 9/10 10/10 could also be read as out of or % of builds. So I was saying, 9 out of 10 builds or 90%.

Well there are minor things different on the "A" or normal b16s depends on year.
ITR is slang for Integra Type R the b18cR or b15c5 most commonly.

If you are looking at needing mounts read the FAQs most cars can just fit them in with swapping oem mounts or you can get mount kits. B series motor swaps are very common.

The search key will help you a lot, even if you aren't the best with computers or if you just dig at the top of each forum at the labeled stickies for FAQs.

Anything else just ask

the yellow one is mine, its a 74, also have an orange one, also 74. they are mid engine and handle great. they just need more power.
i rode in a red 74 last month, it had a 2.4 acura and did 0-60 in 3.3 sec.
its been done at least 6 times that i know of.
and while the honda weighs close to 3,000 lbs, this weighs about 2,000 lbs.

Best of luck with your swap and if you go back to the hybrid section, please make a thread there about the swap, I'd love to watch it

Use a sand rail cable shifter. The gear will be backwards...1st would be where 2nd is and 2nd would be where 1st is. You get used to it in about 30 seconds. I will fire that thing up this evening if I can

You will find the exh an easy task....and very efficient. I am not sure if you are trying to keep the rear truck but the fab guy opted to ditch it and take advantage of the space. He did install a cross bar where the latch for the engine cover would sit. The car was a blast to drive...we got it down to about 1500 lbs with driver... and roughly 155 to the wheels last I recall...lol do the math on that one. One rear big pro about taking the the rear truck out is everything is easy to get to. And you could have the motor out in about 15-20 minutes with 2 guys on it

in the pic it looked like you used a single cam? do you have any pics of the mounts you made. i was figuring on removing the rear area, but was planning on making a drop in trunk compartment that was smaller. that way i could have the best of both worlds. thanx again

Yes that is a single cam... cause it is all that was lying around his shop at the time. I never did get pics of the mounts as they were very simple. We just used pieces of plate steel cut down to the contour of the inner fender wheel. The rest was Honda mounts. Trust me... leave the engine mounts on... set it in there and you will see it come together. Then maybe you could see if you could work a trunk in there. If I see the car out this year I will get pics again

I was out of town when that was done...but If I remember correctly...it was just a combo of the two. There was some machine work but it was VERY minimal. He had the facilities for this but I am sure a axle shop would work something quit without a assload of cash.
