Default Gas Gauge Problem

When i 1st get into the car the gas gauge is fine and it shows what level i am at. But once i start driving it slowly moves its way up to full. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I cant figure it out for the life of me.

take the needle off and go fill your car up
then when you get home let it sit for a few minutes and press the needle back on a little bit over the full mark

it's not a calibration thing or it would never show the right reading... you have a wiring or level sender problem. if the gauge is powered up and looses the signal from the tank it will do like you mention.

if you have a volt meter make sure that there is between 0.5 and 5.5V on the wire.
Wiggle, poke and prod every so often in the length of the wire, when the voltage jumps you've found the area the problem is in.

It's also possible that you fuel level sender has a bad spot in it, pull the ECU fuse to disable the fuel pump, pull the tank cover and pull the sender from the tank, switch the ignition to run(II) and slowly move the level arm up and down manually while watching the voltage or gauge. If it jumps replace the sender.
