intake help sound of vtec?
this is a ricer style question im sure but i love riding in b16's where the vtec is loud as hell when the crossover takes place. i have a 2000 gsr with jdm b18c and it only has header and cat back. Before the cat-back i could clearly hear the vtec crossover at 6k rpm's. now it's just a smooth crossover the whole way. i was wondering if an intake adds to the vtec sound(make it louder). it's a newb/ricer question but i just love that crossover sound and am in the market for an intake so just seekin advice first. thanks
Stock gsr vtec engages at ~4400rpm. That sound in the upper 5000rpms is the IAB. An intake might help a bit with the sound but on a gsr the transition into vtec is naturally smooth and quiet.
Unbolt your cat and go for a blast down the street and itll be extremely loud though lol. But it does make your car sound like crap. Just put it back on afterwards if you decide to try.

Yes, with an intake you can hear it louder but like that guy said, the engagement is suppose to be smooth for a gsr. But once you get a skunk2 IM with a chipped p28 it's going to sound very nice
Well mine is loud but I also have a ctr intake cam
