what should i do?
hello everybody im a 19 year old college student who has been riding for about 3 years now. i have an 05 rebel and i think it may be time to get something a little bit bigger. even though ive had my bike for 3 years ive only put about 1K miles on it. where i live riding in the summer and the winter is not a fun thing to do so all i have is fall and spring. for a while now i have been wanting a cbr 600. i cant decide if i want an rr, and f4i or maybe even an f2, they are kind of sexy. ive got 4500 and not a penny more. insurance is not a problem because ive got someone to pay for it yay im spoiled. let me know what yall think. thanks

If you're spoiled, I'd hope that you could spend more than 4500.
For that cash, I'd look into an '05-06 ZX6R.
I personally would buy an 800SS. Any 600RR for that price is going to be pretty thrashed.

You can find some nice CBR's for about 4500 on fireblades.org in their motorcycle for sale sections. Most of them are 929 and 954 but they do have some 600's in there.. most of them are nice and already modded so there is some good deals. Usually the bikes are about year range of 00-03 CBRs which I think looks pretty cool.
if you spend your hard earned money on a zx6, you'll be spending even more of your hard earned money on repairs/replacement parts/manuals/shop labor/etc
get an old f2 or f3 in good shape and call it a day. you could even find a nice f4i if you're patient enough

i know but riding a 250cc cruiser gets old after a while, i cant ride in the summer because its 90 + every day and i just dont feel safe riding it on highways. now if i had a 600 or greater i wouldnt be scared of getting hit by someone who doesnt see me on that tiny begginer/ old guy bike

I ride a 675...and I'm petrified of getting hit by car. I don't know why you wouldn't worry about it on a SS.

well think of it this way if you will, you know when your driving your car and you hear that guy with the loud *** exhaust and you look around to see where he is and what hes got, compared to when you look over next to you when your about to change lanes only to see a chump on a moped, i feel like im the chump on the moped

I'm about as materialistic and shallow as a person can be, And even I don't give a **** what I look like to others. As long as I'm safe, I'm not worried.
I'll be honest, if I was in my car, and looked left, and saw you on an '08 600RR (presumably your dream bike...) I'd laugh at you like you were on a 25cc moped. Then again, I don't see much difference between the two.

The only part about freeway riding on a small bike that would bug me would probably be gusty winds or being at my max speed the whole time.
Just because you have a big/shiny/loud bike doesn't mean you can assume cars will notice you.

ive hit some gusty winds on my porky vfr and it through me over into the next lane in seconds, now on a 600 its like damn, u better be paying attention when a nasty wind blows through
i dont really care that much about it being shiny new or whatever but for some reason i just feel safer when someone can hear me if they cant see me. id rather be heard if not seen than not heard or seen. im not trying to be a douche im thinking about it safety wise. because i have about a 100 miles to travel every other weekend on a turnpike with a speed limit of 75(which means everyone goes 85) and guess what guys ??? i live in oklahoma we get really nasty winds here. thats why they call us tornado alley. for you guys living on the west coast think of it as the santa ana winds for 6 months of the year
Honestly I think being seen is more important. Unless a bike is a straight-pipe Harley or redlining I often have a hard time hearing it. But when I see the dude in the bright red jumpsuit, I pay attention. Others might disagree though.
