Default boosted b18c or k20 swap

Ok i know this is a question for hybrids but i wanted other people thoughts on this subject. I was going to do a k20 swap costing me around 10k at the max. then i was thinking well may i should just boost my car and save money But then if i boost then i lose mpg and with the k20 i still get good mpg and power with out boost. What do you guys think b18c boosted or k20. Im looking for around 240horses with 180-240 torque. i know that thats kinda alot and for b18c it would be hard to get to that range but with the k20 it would be a little bit easier but more money. i would like to here both sides of the story

Boosted b18. You're gas milage will only suffer if you're raping your motor up to redline every time you hit the road. Lots of benefits to driving sane.

As soon as you put the K in, you're spending the extra money you would be saving on gas, right? lol. That's way too much money for way less performance you otherwise would have if you'd just boost the trusty B.

thats true. What is the price usally for a good boost set up. 4-5k for the kit and fuel rail, regulator, gauges, exaust.

deff go b18c boosted. you can piece a kit together pretty easy and cheap. my buddie went 12.7 with a stock gsr boosted and he kept that setup for 70k miles and his girl went 13.4 on a stock gsr boosted and only made 218hp. so i would deff. say go boost!

you would get better gas milage out of a daily driver.

k>B

but gsr turbo will get you to your goal cheaper so thats my vote.

Now then if i didnt want turbo for my gsr and want to make it all motor would it better to just upgrade the valve train and still get close to my goal. lets say 210-220whp and 180tq

Good luck getting those tq numbers on a stock block, you'll definately have to sleeve that baby and get a stroker kit.

good luck reaching those numbers without a fully built motor.

Go with a boosted B-motor. Even a stock LS on 10psi will make the power you want. All you will have to buy is injectors and get the ecu tuned. 220WHP on a stock LS motor is very common @10PSi on pump gas. The torque will be around 200 also. 10PSI on a stock GSR will get you even more power.

What motor is in the car right now? D16Z6's with forged rods/pistons and head studs can easily make 250 WHP and almost 200 LBS of torque. You can make that much power on a stock Z6 too you just need to be really careful with the tune.

I was thinking the exact same thing, I have a gsr turbo atm got stolen and well it seems like i need a new 1, so i was thinking hell why not a K20, but the fact of the matter is a k20 all motor wont give you any wear near the power a boosted gsr does. And the cost, at least 8k for the k20 swap + any mods, you can make a devil out of the gsr with 3- 4k or go moderate for the gas and get a small turbo that will still be way faster then a stock k20.
