Default new exhaust

I hope to be getting an exhaust sometime within the next few weeks here, but I'm kind of up in the air about which one to get. Since I don't really wanna spend around like $3g or something on the Tracy sports dual 70mm, I've narrowed it down to Skunk2 & HKS. I'm looking for both style, sound, & performance. I also have a supercharger along w/ a few other things so if anyone has any experience/input into either of these choices, maybe w/ a similar setup, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I say go with the Skunk2. It has bigger piping and if im not mistaken, it weighs less. I'm not 100% though. And also, the Skunk2 sounds great, a little louder than HKS but who cares.

Yea I was also thinking of running a test pipe, if not a hi-flow, lighter weight cat. Does the test pipe make it louder/quieter/more aggressive? Also, anybody have FI on their cars with either exhaust?

if you have a supercharger you should really be looking into a single exhaust.

Personally an exhaust from any of the JDM boutiques will do just fine (ARC, J's racing, JIC, Mugen). Although at $3,740 the ARC titanium exhaust system is truly a bargain. It is perfect for parking lot meets, drift competitions, and exit ramp touge battles.

http://twincamtech.stores.yahoo.net/noname8.html

"By using titanium, the whole exhaust system weighs about 4 times less than most exhaust systems out there (Approx. 12.5LBS). With a straight through design for a deep throaty tone, this exhaust is perfect for that die hard tuner in mind. Craftsmenship is not expressed enough on these exhaust, as each welds are beautifully hand welded."

For ***** sake - this guy and bimmer just bang on about true tuning in every thread.

Yes, the test pipe makes a huge difference - it's hard to get any gains from changing the exhaust, but the test pipe gives around 8hp, plus it makes the exhaust sound a little louder and deeper - it's one of the best mods for the dollars as long as you don't mind a few polar bears falling off ice caps, which i don't.
The HKS always gets the vote for sweetest sounding exhaust, and there's a few who have gained power (2 or 3 horses at most - one on s2ki recently ), but plenty (usually basing it on heresay) who say it loses, though there is no proof of that. I certainly felt no difference after the HKS was added, but sounds great.

Fortunately this term has been properly defined to avoid confusion.

So your readers are meant to infer from your comments that you do not believe in the choices that were listed, and that you have much better choices in mind, and you are prepared to list those better choices?

i've read good things about the HKS, but i think most people like the J's or the T1R. Really as long as it's 70mm you'll be good. What are getting a muffler and taking it somewhere to have the piping done? might be a little cheaper to go that way.

I believe that S2000 owners are greatly concerned about the image they project with their choice in aftermarket accessories. This is why S2000 owners are quick to jump on items like the J's racing sound tube, ARC aerodynamic enhancement element, cusco appearance bars, and titanium lugnuts. Being a true tuner is all about fitting the car with JDM boutique tuning goods that earn style points.

We are talking about tuning and drifting. Those are the only thing topics discussed here. Welcome to the S2k forum.

No, it is not.

We should give honest advice about the original poster's query, or stay the hell out of the thread.
