Default stick vs sportronic?

Are there any major advantages/disadvantages between an rsx with 5spd manual vs 5spd sportronic in performance or anything else for that matter? I appreciate any opinions. thank you.

A manual tranny is going to have less parasitic loss, better gearing and it will shift harder(if you can drive)

Of course this is typically only true with Hondas. On domestic cars or torquey boosted cars like Supras an auto can be an advantage in some cases.Personally I would buy the manual. It is just plain more fun.

Thanks for the advice. the only reason i was concerned about the stick is because i live in a busy part of New York. and will be in traffic fairly often, but from what everyones saying, it sounds like the stick might be the way to go.

I regret not getting a stick, driving is kinda boring now. And don't worry about the traffic, shifting will become second nature to you, and think about all the gas you will save

Get standard bro. I have driven both and the sportronic seems to lag to much and doesnt seem as powerfull as driving standard. I can understand auto or sportronic on a domestic or supra, but on a honda/acura its not worth it.

I know what you mean bro, I live in Houston and we have an assload of traffic no matter what time it is.. it was annoying at first but I got use to it REAL quick (I was surprised) and it is a lot of fun.. lol, I have a friend who has both types of cars and he says that the automatic is boring to drive and he often falls asleep at the wheel but when he drives his stick he just seems more awake.. he's a dumbass though so do what you want and forget that last peice of advise..

I was just about to ask the same question. My Civic was stolen and totaled about 3 weeks ago so ive been car shopping. Ive decided to get an RSX but i wasnt sure if i should go with the manual or automatic since my civic was auto and im kinda rusty at driving stick. I live in Las Vegas so the traffic here is bad also so thats one reason i wanted another auto. But it sounds like manual is the way to go! I guess like you all said ill get used to it

Power wise there is no question.

Only reason Id go with auto is if I lived in a grid-locked traffic area. I don't think I could ever drive a base after parading around in my S.

I think the sportronic would have higher gear ratios. Check in the back of the brochure.

i tried the sportronic once, feels the same as automatic, I have never done this before my friend told me it changes gear automatically for you when you hit the redline or about to hit the redline...to me it doesn't make any difference between automatic and sportronic, same as shifting from 1 to 2 to D3 to D4....
STICK RULES!!!!

uhh, if it's not type s then go auto... you aren't gonna be racing or doing any real performance driving with a base, so get something that's comfortable and easy, especially if you are going to be in traffit a lot. if you are going to be driving hard, a base auto/sportshift should handle your needs no prob.

hes got no choice....type s doesnt come in auto if you wanted it too.....so its a choice between performance , or non-performance , i'm sure you'll the best choice that suits your needs...

WERD... however, i must admit that my Auto comes in handy quite often and it is definitely not slow. Manual is probably better though... just makes talking on the phone while driving or eating while driving a bit harder.
