9700 is too much.
Offr about 9, because once you sign the papers, it's worth about 8k.

I paid about 8800 for mine OTD tax in, with a free coat (part of some promo for the 07). They can always budge on price, just not too much. Don't be afraid to ask for a bit cheaper price.

Id wait on an 08, with the 09s coming out with minor tweaks (abs), I bet the 08s will sell cheap. This spring, 07 ZX6Rs were selling for 7k brand new at a local dealership
I got my 2007 when it was new for $9,500 OTD with the solo seat cowl, Shoei RF-1000, Alpinestars 3/4 gloves and a Joe Rocket CBR textile jacket included.
I also talked them into free service for the 1st year including oil changes or anything I want to take it in for (though I do my own services despite that).

There is no changes in the 08 over the 07 other then color. I've seen a few 07's go for a ridiculously low price. You can pick one up new, or with low miles for cheap cheap. Check that out

cheapest i could find an 07 was on ebay as a leftover in alabama for 8200. but since im in jersey i wasnt traveling that far. so i asked if the local dealer would match it and they said 8400 and i did the deal. i also got the fixed 3.99 deal. they offered me there last 08 rr in the orange/black model for 8600 but im not riding the tony the tiger bike, so i went with the 07.

I am located in western PA and got my 08 cbr1000rr for a few bennies more than that. I am sure you can get them to due better. Hell you live in florida and I am sure they sell a **** ton of bikes so they have no point to make all their commision off one sale there. It was a littler harder to talk them down on the new 1Krr 3 weeks after it came out but I did.
I would talk them down a little if it was me, plus it never hurts to lie a little and say so and so dealer will do it for this

In the bay area? What dealer? Not like I'm going to buy one tomorrow, but still like to know where some of these places are...

For a 2008 cbr600rr? Where exactly did you get that deal, not sure where anytown, usa is :-) Maybe you got a hookup or something? Only reason I ask is because like $8800 for a new 07 cbr600rr is a considered a good deal...then again that's bay area pricing.

Gross. Soon sportbikes will go the way of the "sports car".
With slipper clutches, ABS, drive-by-wire, and traction control coming out the computer will be riding us soon
.
I wonder whats next for street sportbikes....wheelie control? Training wheels that come down at a stop and low speeds? Automatic transmissions?
/rant
Anyways, anywhere around $9,200 OTD is the average price around southern california it seems. We have a very inflated market.

Man I was at a Honda dealer earlier this year and they actually wanted more for an 07 600RR in white then any of the other 07s or the newer 08s. He claimed it was one of the last white ones for sale in the country.
