so every now and then my cars rpm jumps all over the place, even after replacing ICM, coil, cap, rotor.. what do u think it could be......is there anyother sensor that sends the tach signal to the ICM.....cause if it comes down to it im gonna replace the distributer and i dont wanna buy a part i dont need


BTW car is a 94 civic coupe with a d16z6

 

so my ICM just **** the bed again .... only after about 3 months of putting the new one in. what could be messing up my ICM's

 

Wait...are you saying the actual engine rpm jumps or the tach needle?

 

sorry if i wasnt clear my tach needle is jumping not the actuall rpm's

 

i had the same problem in my civic. what i did was open up the dizzy and one of the coil wires was loose you just secure it and your good.

 

X2 yeah just check ur conections on neg side of ig coil.

 

would a loose connection cause my ICM to **** the bed. cause im using my friends till his cars running and it works fine.

i thought the ingnitor was the ICM. cause i already replaced the coil ICM, cap rotor plugs and wires

 

if we are referring to the same piece, i would check the position sensors, such as the crank position, cam position, and crank fluctuation
