Default Mobil 1 advanced fuel economy

Hey,

You all have probably seen mobil 1's 0w-20 and 0w-30 oils that they are now advertising to improve fuel economy by 2%. I was wondering how this would help fuel economy if these oils stay at the same viscosity at normal operating temperature (20 and 30 respectively) compared to 5w-20 and 5-w30. If anyone has any insight on this that would be great.

Thanks,

Ryan

Considering that 5-30 is a slight economy gain over 10-30 (traded off with a slight protection reduction), I would imagine that 0-30 could also produce a slight gain (and probably with the same trade off).

Both act the same 30WT at temp. As the 5 wt would flow better at start-up what is the down side. I really want to know what you petro-chemical experts have to say. Thanks
